Dining Out In Pattaya

What’s the food like in Pattaya? Everyone asks. Well I can confirm its first class. You will find food available from around the world served in high class restaurants, hotels, cafes and bars. Pattaya caters for all nationalities. If you are walking down the street or lying on the beach why not try something from one of the many mobile food vendors.

Fresh shrimp, Squid and Octopus. Muscles’, Crab, corn on the cob, all cooked in front of you while you wait. A fresh coconut for a drink, ice cream or doughnuts for dessert. Delicious!

The food vendors literally risk life and limb as the walk the Beach with their little pots of fire brushing against their legs. Then risk everything as they run like crazy across the road and dash up the small Soi’s (Street’s) to avoid arrest from the Thai police force. For some reason only certain things can be sold on the beach, if they are caught they are fined and their goods confiscated.

The vendors remind me of Meer Cats. Each one looking out for the other, then scampering away at the first sign of danger.

For the street vendors there are no such restrictions. There are hundreds of mobile food vendors selling all types of food. Ice cold fresh fruit and freshly squeezed orange juice. Mobile barbeque's, with small skewer's of pork, beef, and chicken for just a few Bhat. Grilled fish, chicken, sausages and rice cakes are very popular too.

Chip and doughnut vendors via for position next to Somtam sellers (Spicy Thai food, mashed together in a large clay pot) Thai Whiskey for Bht 20 or a cocktail for Bht 80

My favourite, fresh fried chicken being cooked outside Mike Shopping Centre

Coconuts and Snapper just waiting for you

If you are looking for good food and are on a budget then why not give one of these restaurants/cafes a try the food is excellent value for money.
The Little Wonder Cafe. Central shopping Mall opposite Mike Shopping Centre.

Crazy Daves, Soi Chaiyaphum
